I once read that Medal of Honor recipients get an automatic promotion and and increase in retirement pay. If someone is awarded more than one Medal of Honor do they get the same increases again? If someone receives the Medal of Honor more than once, do the rank and retirement increases cumulative?
There is no military policy or regulation that states that MoH recipients are promoted or advance... but almost all are given a meritorious promotion or advancement anyway.
ENLISTED personnel are granted a 10% bonus to their RETIREMENT pay calculation (as if they had served an additional four years of active service). This bonus is only calculated ONCE per member - and it is granted for ANY award for valorous conduct - so even an Achievement Medal with "V" device (for the services that issue them) would mean that this person gets an additional 10% to their retirement pay calculation.
So for the very few folks that received two awards for valor - no, they only get the bonus ONCE.
