When do you receive Medal of Honor?

I was wondering if you receive the Medal of Honor if you were a prisoner of war? And if you don't receive the honor medal, who presents the POW medal? When do you receive Medal of Honor?
Conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.
Hi Haley

Anyways if someone get a MOH there dead and don t ever see it. So it doesn t matter. Its given to the next of kin or spouceWhen do you receive Medal of Honor?
Conspicuous bravery under fire
Not, not for just being a POW. I could be a POW by tripping and falling in battle and being caught by the enemy. That's not worthy of a MoH.

Respect your troops and fight to save other life
You don't earn the MOH for being a POW you earn it for Conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States.

Out of every million troops today 3 will earn the MOH it's the highest award a military member can be given and is earned through extremely heroic actions. Many MOH recipients dont survive to see their medal and many would die to earn it. Less than 3400 have been given since it was made in the civil war and there's less than 100 surviving MOH recipients.
